Havana, Cuba: The Cuban Ministry of Public Health reported this Thursday the sixth consecutive day without deaths from COVID-19 and 586 new cases, for a cumulative 1 million 079 thousand 111 diagnoses since the beginning of the disease in the nation, Radio Habana Cuba reports.
At midnight yesterday, March 16, a total of 7,905 patients were admitted, 5,311 suspected, 27 under surveillance, and 2,567 confirmed active.
For COVID-19, a total of 11,662 samples were taken for surveillance on the day, with 586 being positive for 5.0% positivity. The country accumulates 13 million 272 thousand 134 samples carried out and 1 million 079 thousand 111 positives (8.1%).
Of the total cases (586): 566 were contacts of confirmed cases, 1 with a source of infection abroad and 19 without a specified source of infection. Of the 566 diagnosed cases, 330 were female and 256 male.
4.6% (27) of the 586 positive cases were asymptomatic, accumulating a total of 145,590, which represents 13.5% of those confirmed to date.
Of the 586 diagnosed cases, they belong to the age groups: under 20 years old (165), 20 to 39 years old (116), 40 to 59 years old (161), 60 and over (144).
Of the million 079 thousand 111 patients diagnosed with the disease, 2 thousand 567 remain hospitalized, of them 2 thousand 551 with stable clinical evolution. There are 8,503 deaths (no deaths were reported on the day), lethality of 0.79% vs 1.31% in the world and 1.78% in the Americas; two evacuated and 57 returned to their countries. On the day there were 610 discharges, accumulated 1 million 067 thousand 982 recovered patients (99.0%). 16 confirmed patients are treated in intensive care, of which 5 are critical and 11 are serious.
As of March 16, 192 countries and 32 territories have been reported with cases of COVID-19, amounting to 462 million 852 thousand 773 confirmed cases (+ 1 million 899 thousand 026) with 60 million 978 thousand 984 active cases and 6 million 077 thousand 264 deceased (+ 7 thousand 319) for a lethality of 1.31% (-0.01).
In the region of the Americas, 151 million 195 thousand 212 confirmed cases (+ 144 thousand 805) are reported, 32.67% of the total cases reported in the world, with 26 million 834 thousand 085 active cases and 2 million 694 thousand 852 deceased (+ 2 thousand 806) for a lethality of 1.78% (-0.01).
