Sancti Spíritus, Cuba_ The workers’ movement in this central province is preparing to make May Day, International Workers’ Day, a day of unity for Cubans.

Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, general secretary of the Cuban Workers? Confederation (CTC) presided over the extraordinary plenary session of the organization in Sancti Spiritus.

The member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party called to dedicate the events on International Workers? Day in a special way to Cuban youths, the essential relay of the Revolution.

At the plenary session, Ekaterina Gowen Dickinson, a member of the Central Committee of the Party, was elected the new territorial secretary of the organization.

Mercy Rodriguez was awarded the Third Degree Lazaro Peña Order for her outstanding work for more than 20 years leading the workers? movement in Sancti Spiritus.

In his closing words, Guilarte de Nacimiento called to develop working days in production and the economy as a prelude to May Day, in order to multiply initiatives to march all together with the strength of a country.

The plenary session was also attended by Deivy Perez, a member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Party in the province, and Sancti Spiritus Governor Teresita Romero.
