Mayabeque, Cuba: With the participation of electoral commissions in each of the municipalities, the organizational process, prior to the elections of deputies to the National Assembly of People’s Power, advances in Mayabeque.

?We work in order to comply with the electoral law, Law 127 that establishes that all Cuban citizens, over 16 years of age, with the capacity to exercise the right to vote, assigned in each of the electoral constituencies where they have their fixed residence, they can go to their polling stations voluntarily and exercise their direct vote there for the candidates for deputies to the National Assembly,? the president of the Electoral Council in the country’s youngest province, Raquel Piñero Díaz, said.

The 23 candidates for the National Assembly are visiting these days important centers, communities, exchanges with the population of the entire province. In the case of Melena del Sur there are two candidates, like the rest of the nine municipalities in the province, in the case of San José de las Lajas there are three that correspond taking into account the number of inhabitants and the proportion established by law in this sense,” she clarified.

This is an intense electoral period in which the democratic nature of our revolutionary process is revealed, but what we are carrying out, which will climax on Sunday, March 26, has its peculiarities, hence the importance of these contacts, Piñero Diaz added.

?National elections have the characteristic that they are candidates to be elected by the people and that they have the option, on this occasion, to vote for all or to be selective. That is why we are also ensuring everything that is implicit, that when consigning the selective votes each one of the authorities when doing the counting, to fulfill the different functions that they perform and that they do it well on election day.
