Havana, Cuba: Representatives of the educational sector talk today about innovation and sustainability in the face of Covid-19 during the second day of the International Pedagogy Congress 2021, convened by Cuba.
According to the program of the event, which is being held virtually for the first time, about 900 delegates from the island and 27 countries will address these issues through conferences and discussion forums, Prensa Latina publishes.
The appointment today foresees the intervention of the Unesco Deputy Director General for Education, Stefania Giannini and the Secretary General of the Organization of Ibero-American States, Mariano Jabonero.
In addition, Ministers of Education from Cuba, Angola, Argentina, China, Ecuador, Venezuela, among others, will present their experiences at the Education, Innovation and Sustainability Forum for Comprehensive Human Development, lessons learned in times of Covid-19.
Pedagogy 2021 began the day before and will run until February 3 under the slogan For the Unity of Educators.
During the inauguration of the event, the Minister of Education of Cuba, Ena Elsa Velázquez, pointed out the need to promote the production of media and resources as part of the digital transformation for the teaching process.
Likewise, she called to reinforce the commitment to an inclusive, equitable and quality education, as well as to promote learning opportunities throughout life, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
Velázquez ratified the will of the Caribbean nation to revolutionize the means of education and explained the island’s experience to maintain teaching despite Covid-19. In that sense, she mentioned the televised classes for the different educational levels, as well as the creation of the CubaEduca portal, with its own contents of the school curriculum
