Havana, Cuba: Cuba and the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) advanced towards strengthening ties amid the complex challenges they share today.

During the XIX ALBA-TCP Summit, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez ratified his country’s policy to strengthen relations within the bloc against coercive measures against member states and the confrontation with Covid-19.

The chancellor recalled the more than 240 provisions applied in recent years to hinder the development of the island by the United States, 50 in the most recent period, and condemned their validity.

“If the US government had an iota of interest in human rights, it would put an end to the blockade, which seeks to cause hunger, misery and deaths, it could eliminate the aggressions against nations and renounce the neoliberal paradigm that it tries to impose?, he emphasized.

“The head of Cuban diplomacy reaffirmed Havana’s support for Venezuela and Nicaragua, which defend national sovereignty against threats from Washington?, he said.

He also recalled the strength of the Alliance and its founding principles, the intention to continue moving forward, expand the exchange, and always have the island in the front row of this battle for life, dignity, peace and justice.

Founded in Havana on December 14, 2004, ALBA-TCP considers among its objectives to promote a regional integration platform conceived to fight against poverty and social exclusion, based on solidarity, complementarity and cooperation.
