As a child I was always concerned about how it was possible for the people around me to know facts and personalities that had passed or lived-in times that were very different from today.

Once I joined the school, I understood that historical notes transcend from generation to generation and thanks to that the trajectory of heroes and martyrs reaches our days.

In the effort to promote the altruism, dedication and sacrifice of men and women, who offered their lives in defense of the Homeland, the members of the National Union of Historians stand out, an organization that carries out intense work in Mayabeque.

In this territory, the branch is chaired by the researcher and promoter of Cuban values, history and identity, Reinaldo Guerrero. The National Union of Historians of Cuba (UNHIC) was founded on December 7, 1981.

The UNHIC is a social, non-governmental, scientific and professional organization that brings together Cuban professionals, with the purpose of working on research, teaching and the dissemination of History, in addition to the conservation of historical-cultural heritage.

There are 10 subsidiaries throughout the country, with Mayabeque being the most recently created.

Reliving the legacy of the heroes and martyrs, spreading their exploits and instilling in the youngest the love of the Homeland, are actions that the affiliates of this non-governmental organization defend every day to preserve local history.

They promote the protection of heritage in connection with Museums so that the trace of the ancestors lasts beyond time.
