Havana: Schools in much of Cuba are finalizing on Monday details for the return of thousands of students to classrooms on Tuesday, September 1, under strict hygienic-sanitary measures in order to avoid the spread of Covid-19, Prensa Latina reports.

Five months after teaching activities were suspended due to the pandemic, face-to-face classes will return across the country, except in Havana and some communities with cases of patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

About 355,000 students will remain at home, among them the residents in the 15 Havana municipalities, four others in the western region (La Palma, Mariel, San Cristobal and Cardenas) and two in central Cuba (Camajuani and Manicaragua), although this only affects Matagua neighborhood people’s council).

Recently, the head of the sector referred to the results of her visit to 1,500 schools in the country from August 15 to 22, when she verified the organization of the educational process and the preparation to implement hygienic-sanitary measures.

She explained that within the teaching centers the use of masks (known as nasobucos), frequent hand washing and the disinfection of surfaces will be mandatory, among other provisions to which is added the distancing inside and outside the classrooms.

“In Cuba we will never make a decision that affects the health of the people”, the minister said in another of her messages on Twitter.
