Santiago de Chile: Thousands of Chileans will remember today the Socialist President Salvador Allende and the thousands of victims of the dictatorship on the 47th anniversary of the coup against the democratic government of the Popular Unity, Prensa Latina publishes.

Although on this anniversary the massiveness of the acts will be reduced due to the limitations imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, opposition political parties and social and labor organizations will maintain the traditional actions of tribute to those killed and retaliated by the coup forces.

Alicia Lira, president of the Group of Executed Politicians, called on the participants in the activities to strictly comply with the health and distancing measures provided by the authorities due to the pandemic.

Likewise, at 5:00 p.m. local time, a concentration is called by the 8 de Marzo Feminist Coordinator in the emblematic Plaza de la Dignidad, and at 9:00 p.m. a candlelight in the different communes throughout the country.

As every September 11, in the front of the emblematic National Stadium, used by the coup forces as a concentration and torture camp during the weeks that followed the coup, the victims will also be remembered.
