Mayabeque, Cuba: The President of the Cuban Parliament, Esteban Lazo Hernández, confirmed in Mayabeque the work of the system of governing bodies of the Popular Power for the implementation of the socioeconomic strategy in the country.
At the beginning of the meeting, he was interested in the epidemiological situation, the attention to the people in times of COVID-19 and how it works in the new normality from the Popular Council, taking into account integrated community work.
The governor of Mayabeque, Tamara Valido Benítez, informed the President of the National Assembly of People’s Power about the improvement of the work system, the functioning of the council, the role of the municipality in the political, economic and social scenario foreseen in the Constitution of the Republic of Cuba and the link of the provincial government of People’s Power with the assemblies in each territory.
Esteban Lazo spoke with managers and workers of the Valle del Perú Livestock Company, as well as researchers from the Animal Science Institute to learn about the potential development of the Cuban Siboney breed based on the proposal of a genetic project for the breeding of 1,470 breeding females by 2021.
He also specified the importance of complying with quality indicators of economic efficiency, guaranteeing animal feed and recovering forage areas with the sowing of protein plants in 133 hectares dedicated to the sustainable management of animal mass and explained the need to transform livestock by integrating technology, science and innovation at the request of the country’s top leadership.
