Caracas: Venezuela today breathes an air of democracy and peace after the massive participation of the people in Sunday’s electoral simulation, described as successful by the National Electoral Council (CNE) and the political forces, Prensa Latina publishes.

In the midst of total normality, barely interrupted by those who celebrated with music and slogans, Venezuelans attended the exercise called by the entity the day before as part of the schedule for the legislative elections on December 6.

CNE officials, politicians from the most diverse currents, analysts and citizens described the event as a resounding victory that put an end to the interference pretensions of some nations and international organizations.

The vice president of the electoral body, Leonardo Morales, assured Prensa Latina that what happened had exceeded expectations and predicted the success of the upcoming legislative elections.

The official highlighted the assistance of the people and stressed that this shows the will of Venezuelans to try to solve their problems in peace and through democratic mechanisms such as elections.

“That there are those who pretend to ignore them, oh well! That is their problem, in the end those who decide are Venezuelans and the attendance this Sunday confirms that on December 6 the future of the country will be decided at the polls”, he said.

For her part, Indira Alfonzo, rector of the CNE, thanked the civic behavior of the people, coordinators of voting centers, officials of the electoral power, and other factors, and assured that this motivates and commits them even more to guarantee that Venezuelans can exercise voting safely, freely and transparently.

Representatives of the opposition party Alianza Democrática recognized the organization of the event and the effective work of the public order forces to maintain security, as well as the appropriate sanitary protocol.

The international oversight mission of the Latin American Council of Electoral Experts, meanwhile, recognized compliance with biosafety measures and underlined reliability in the process, based on all the audits carried out and compliance with the schedule.

At the end of the fiscal year, President Nicolás Maduro expressed his satisfaction with what happened on that day, “the people are there giving the first great sign of what the renewal of the National Assembly is going to be on December 6”.
