Caracas: The National Electoral Council (CNE) of Venezuela continues today with the development of audits to verify the transparency and reliability of the automated system towards the legislative elections next December, Prensa Latina publishes.

The CNE authorities activated this week the verification of the electoral data in its first phase, with the aim of certifying the biometric database – fingerprints – of the citizens registered in the voter registry.

At the end of the first day of the audit, the technical representatives of the organizations with political purposes signed the act of conformity, as part of a process that will last until October 30, reported the highest electoral body.

The electoral power of Venezuela establishes guarantees aimed at complying with the principles of democracy, reliability and efficiency, to consolidate the strengths of the automated system and ensure the inviolability and integrity of the right to vote, the body stressed.

In recent statements, the main rector of the CNE, Tania D´Amelio, indicated that the auditable nature of each stage of the electoral process seeks to convey confidence to voters and political organizations, in addition to showing the total transparency of the procedures.

Likewise, the set of audits -16 in total- aims to certify the safe, precise and effective operation of the components, programming and equipment of the automated system for the day of voting, in order to guarantee the integrity of the right to vote.

More than 20 million 700 thousand Venezuelans are called to the polls on December 6, in a process marked by the nomination of 14 thousand candidates representing more than 100 political organizations.

The renewal of the National Electoral Council and the call for elections to elect a new Parliament were part of the agreements emanating from the National Dialogue Table installed in September 2019 with the participation of the Bolivarian government and several opposition parties.
