Mayabeque, Cuba: The National Institute of Agricultural Sciences (INCA), located in the municipality of San José de las Lajas, received the Labor Prowess flag awarded by the Cuban Workers’ Federation (CTC).
This scientific institution is completing 50 years of work at the service of science, raising the legacy of the leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro, by expressing: “For an INCA, mirror of Cuban agricultural development.”
The high distinction is delivered by the General Secretary of the National Union of Education, Science and Sports Workers (SNTECD), Niurka María González Orberá.
The Doctor of Science Alexander Miranda Caballero and the Master of Science Bárbara Benítez receive the distinction, on behalf of the group of the institution.
INCA is a Science and Technology Unit of the Ministry of Higher Education of the Republic of Cuba. It was created in 1970, responding to the state policy for the development of research throughout the country, as a center for investigation and postgraduate improvement of the agricultural branch and for the extension of its results to productive practice and producer training.
Currently, the institution has the mission of generating and transferring updated knowledge, comprehensive technologies and new biotechnology products, plant science and sustainable systems, to efficiently increase agri-food production.
