Mayabeque, Cuba: Specialists from the Liliana Dimitrova Institute for Horticultural Research (IIHLD), located in the municipality of Quivicán, are working on the implementation of the socio-economic strategy.
This task is a priority at the country level, to promote development and face the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, taking into account technological innovation.
“The institution is linked to one of the key areas defined in the strategy, food production. We are committed from the base to produce new results from the explorations carried out, and to obtain new varieties, with greater resistance to climatic changes”, the director of the research center associated with agriculture, Dr. Alicia Fernández Miranda, said.
Other tasks are aimed at adapting or mitigating the negative impact of climate change on the agro-productivity of soils and the substitution of imports.
