New increase in infections with Covid-19 in Africa.

Nairobi: Africa experienced an increase in the number of infections with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, in relation to the rate of spread of this disease in recent weeks, specialized sources reported today.

The count of accumulated cases since the onset of the pandemic on this continent rose to 1,905,250 patients on Tuesday, 13,105 more than on Monday, according to the report from the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CEPCE).

During the last two weeks, infections in this continent were around 8,000 every day, Prensa Latina publishes.

The relationship of countries with the highest number of infected remained unchanged, with the first step occupied by South Africa where 740 thousand 254 patients are registered, followed by Morocco, 265 thousand 165; Egypt, 109,654; Ethiopia, 100 thousand 327 and Tunisia, 2 thousand six, the report of the CEPCE relates.

The deaths followed the same trend, since during the day on Tuesday the accumulated amounted to 45,947, an increase of 342 compared to Monday’s statistics.

The line of deaths remained for weeks at around 200, even with days during which it barely exceeded one hundred.

African statistics on the spread of the pandemic are closely followed by experts, led by the World Health Organization, who fear the possible effects of an uncontrolled spread of the pandemic on this continent. (LHS)
