Beijing: China will soon share the formula and method of use of a disinfectant that is effective in eradicating the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus (which causes Covid-19) in low-temperature environments, local press reported today.
According to the Global Times newspaper, the national Center for Disease Control and Prevention began developing the substance in June after the virus outbreak in a Beijing wholesale market, Prensa Latina publishes.
Without specifying the exact date or offering other details, it indicated that this entity will shortly announce the composition of the product and thus support the country’s plans to stop the entry of the pathogen through loads from abroad.
China tightens the fence from imports, as it linked its latest outbreaks of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus with frozen meat packaging and containers shipped from other parts of the world.
The situation led to alerts from epidemiologists about the need to monitor all products, even those that do not require cold chains, because low temperatures could favor the survival of the microorganism during transportation.
In this context, the country plans to approve this month the use of 600 million doses of its inactivated vaccine candidates against Covid-19.
So far, it has 14 preparations in different stages of studies and of them six have advanced towards the final phase of clinical trials.
A few hours ago, Foreign Minister Wang Yi reiterated Beijing’s commitment to making Chinese vaccines a global public good, ensuring their accessibility and affordability to developing countries.
However, he called for expanding solidarity and international cooperation, after emphasizing that the powers must lead by example and relieve pressure on poor states.
