Havana, Cuba: At midnight yesterday, December 7, 4,064 patients were admitted for clinical epidemiological surveillance, 738 suspected, 2,529 under surveillance and 797 confirmed, the Cuban Ministry of Public Health reports.
For COVID-19, 11,342 samples were studied, resulting in 76 positive samples. Of the total cases (76): 38 were contacts of confirmed cases, 35 with a source of infection abroad and three without a specified source of infection.
Of the 76 cases, 74 are Cubans and two are foreigners. 89.5% (68) of the 76 positive cases were asymptomatic, accumulating a total of 5,742, which represents 64% of those confirmed to date.
By province, the cases belong to Pinar del Río (13 cases, 2 imported), Artemisa (2 cases, 1 imported), Havana (18 cases, 13 imported), Mayabeque (6 cases, 2 imported), Matanzas (7 cases, 6 imported), Cienfuegos (5 cases, 1 imported), Villa Clara (2 imported cases), Ciego de Ávila (2 imported cases), Camagüey (3 imported cases), Santiago de Cuba (17 cases, 3 imported), Guantánamo (1 case).
Of the 8,982 patients diagnosed with the disease, 797 (8.8%), 785 (98.4%) remain confirmed with stable clinical evolution. 136 deaths are reported (none of the day), two evacuated, 50 discharges of the day, 8,047 recovered patients accumulate (89.5%), four critical patients and eight seriously ill in intensive care.
Until December 7, 186 countries with COVID-19 cases are reported, the number of confirmed cases rises to 66 million 872 thousand 241 (+ 502 thousand 740) and 1 million 536 thousand 855 deaths (+ 7 thousand 109) for a fatality of 2, 29 (-0.01).
In the region of the Americas, 28 million 789 thousand 951 confirmed cases (+ 236 thousand 909) are reported, 43.05% of the total cases reported in the world, with 755 thousand 262 deaths (+ 2 thousand 253) for a fatality of 2.62% (-0.02).
