Mayabeque, Cuba: With the fulfillment of the protection, control measures and the planned treatments that turkeys require from one year of birth, the workers of the La Demajagua Base Business Unit (UEB) in San Nicolás, prioritize the attention to the more than 2000 birds recently entered at the farm to achieve growth and fattening.

According to the director of the UEB, Raúl Martínez García, the new breeding began on December 22 with a primary entry of 2,890 small turkeys, today there are better conditions and the entity aims to obtain superior results.

“We have all the logistics, whether it is coal for heat and adequate air conditioning, in addition the workers have a greater sense of belonging”,  Martínez García, said.

Getting the best fruits out of the land, producing to the maximum and achieving self-sufficiency are priorities on the farm.

“Today there are larger arable areas dedicated to agriculture, we have planted tomatoes, yucca, beans, squash, yucca and sweet potato destined to feed the people,” said the manager.
