Havana, Cuba: Cuba resumed as of today the institutional isolation of all international travelers who arrive in the country, as part of the measures implemented to face the outbreak of Covid-19, Prensa Latina publishes.

For this purpose, spaces and facilities were conditioned in all provinces, government authorities assured the day before, during the meeting of the temporary working group for the prevention and control of the new coronavirus headed by the president, Miguel Díaz-Canel.

The decision responds to the need to cut the transmission of the SARS CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes the disease, when the island has reported the highest numbers of infections for several weeks, which has significantly increased the incidence rate per 100,000 population.

The provinces of Guantánamo (272.75); Havana (241.86) and Santiago de Cuba (167.55), as well as the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud (140.38), are territories that in the past two weeks show a considerable rise in this health indicator.

In accordance with the provisions, the isolation of Cuban residents will be in centers set up in the provinces and free of charge, as well as transportation to the center and back to their residence once the process is completed.

For foreigners and non-resident Cubans who arrive in the country, designated hotel facilities were set up in each territory, with travelers assuming the costs of stay and transportation.

Cuba registered a total of 31,190 confirmed cases with Covid-19 this Friday since the beginning of the pandemic last March, while 5,000,544 patients are admitted to the country’s hospitals.
