Havana, Cuba: The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, evoked today the Commander of the Revolution Juan Almeida Bosque, on the occasion of the 94th anniversary of his birth.
In his Twitter, the president expressed: “The dear and unforgettable Commander Juan Almeida Bosque lives today more than ever. His example accompanies us in daily combat and resistance. Also in victories. #AlmeidaPorSiempre #CubaViva ”.
Juan Almeida Bosque was born on February 17, 1927 in Havana, and came to hold the rank of Commander thanks to his participation in decisive actions for the revolutionary triumph in Cuba, such as the assault on the Moncada Barracks (Santiago de Cuba, 1953, the landing of Granma (1956) and the guerrilla war in the Sierra Maestra.
In that period he led the Third Mario Muñoz Front, in which, in addition to the six thousand square kilometers that it covered, he won the love of the people, as a symbol of consecration for Cuba, the newspaper Granma highlights today.
After the triumph of the Revolution in 1959, he held numerous responsibilities as a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba since its foundation in 1965, vice president of the Council of State and president of the Combatants Association.
In addition to his revolutionary work, he also had a prolific musical and literary work, including more than 300 pieces of music and nine books.
On September 11, 2009, Juan Almeida Bosque died in Havana, as a result of a cardio-respiratory arrest. (IVP
