Havana, Cuba: Army General Raúl Castro, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), presides this Sunday the plenary session of the third day of the 8th. Congress, which meets at the Havana Convention Center, Radio Habana Cuba publishes.
Also present in the session are José Ramón Machado Ventura, Second Secretary of the PCC, and Miguel Díaz-Canel, member of the Political Bureau and President of the Republic, as well as around 300 delegates representing the more than 700 thousand communist militants from all over the country.
The program began with a tribute to Fidel Castro, historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, through the projection of a fragment of his speech delivered at the balance meeting of the Party in Havana in November 1996.
Those attending the conclave began a working day in which they plan to present, discuss and approve the draft resolution on the Central Report, after this Saturday, while debating in commissions where they had the opportunity to express opinions on it.
Presented on the opening day by the Army General, the document has been classified as historical, programmatic and that it makes timely annotations of important processes of the Revolution at the present time and calls for participation in solving the problems.
The program for this Sunday includes the presentation, discussion and approval of the draft resolutions prepared by the work commissions, which addressed economic-social issues, the functioning of the Party and ideological work, and the Politics of Cadres.
The delegates today will also know and debate the candidacy for members of the Central Committee to later proceed to the voting exercise, the results of which will be announced in the final session of the conclave, scheduled for Monday, April 19.
