Havana, Cuba: The national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba, Dr. Francisco Durán, reported this Saturday 12 deaths and 1,110 positive samples for Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, for an accumulated than 100 thousand 318 diagnoses since the beginning of the disease in the nation, Radio Habana Cuba reports
During his usual press conference, the specialist reported that at the end of yesterday, 25 thousand 30 patients were admitted, of them 3 thousand 673 suspects, 15 thousand 624 in epidemiological surveillance and 5 thousand 733 confirmed.
Durán explained that the country carried out 22 thousand 587 samples the day before for a cumulative of 3 million 495 thousand 722 samples analyzed.
The epidemiologist announced that, of the 1,110 patients, 538 were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis, 1,155 have a source of infection in previously confirmed cases, 22 have a source of infection abroad and in 33 people the source of contagion is unknown and one thousand 88 are authocthonous.
Of the total confirmed, 566 are male and 544 female. Regarding the age groups, 167 patients were diagnosed under 19 years of age and 154 in pediatric ages (8 under one year). Active hospitalized 818 remain. In the ages 19 to 39 years, 365 cases were confirmed, between 40 and 59 years about 376 cases and 212 people older than 60 years.

The doctor specified that, of the 100 thousand 318 patients diagnosed with the disease since the beginning of it, 5 thousand 733 remain admitted, of them 5 thousand 664 with stable clinical evolution. 581 deaths are reported (12 in the last day) for a fatality of 0.58. The two evacuees remain, 54 returnees and 93,948 recovered patients accumulate (988 discharges of the day). 30 patients in critical condition and 39 patients in serious condition are reported.
Until April 23, 190 countries and 29 territories with COVID-19 cases are reported, the confirmed cases amount to 146 million 26 thousand 782 (+ 890 thousand 91) with 18 million 767 thousand 322 active cases and 3 million 93 thousand 507 deaths (+ 13,590) for a lethality of 2.12.
