Havana: Cuba confirmed at midnight this Wednesday, 60 thousand new cases of Covid-19 and seven deaths, the national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap), Dr. Francisco Durán García, reported in a press conference, Radio Havana Cuba publishes .
21,253 patients were admitted, of them 3,323 suspects, 12,382 in surveillance and 5,448 confirmed.
Yesterday, 22,818 samples were processed in the country’s molecular biology laboratories, and as a result 1,060 COVID-19 infections were confirmed, 50 more than the previous day.
Of the new cases, 1 000 (94.3%) are contacts of already confirmed cases and in 25 the specified source of infection is not specified.
Regarding gender, 511 are female and 549 male. Of the cases, 1,025 are autochthonous and 35 are imported.
42.7% of the new patients were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis. In the entire epidemic, this figure represents 49.7%.
Yesterday 199 young people under 20 years of age were diagnosed (157 are in pediatric ages, 14 under one year and nine patients under six months) and 14,479 patients are in pediatric ages. There are 862 assets and 94% have been recovered.
While 338 people were diagnosed between the ages of 20-39 years, 348 between 40-59 years and 197 patients in the group of 60 years and over.

Of the 112,714 patients diagnosed with the disease, 5,548 remain hospitalized, of them 5,428 with stable clinical evolution. 701 deaths accumulate (7 in the day), for a fatality of 0.62%; two evacuees, 54 returned to their countries, on the day there were 1,097 discharges, 106 thousand 409 recovered patients accumulate (94.4%). 120 confirmed patients are cared for in intensive care, 48 critically ill and 72 seriously ill.
Until May 5, 190 countries and 30 territories with COVID-19 cases are reported, the confirmed cases amount to 155 million 620 thousand 878 (+ 873 thousand 803) with 18 million 626 thousand 671 active cases and 3 million 249 thousand 649 deaths (+ 15 thousand 369) for a lethality of 2.09 (=).
