Quito: The Legislative Administration Council (CAL) of the National Assembly of Ecuador admitted today for processing complaints issued against Assemblywoman Bella Jiménez for alleged corruption, Prensa Latina publishes.
The information against the Guayas representative and second vice president of parliament was provided by Victoria Desintonio, from the Union for Hope (UNES) bench, and Alejandro Jaramillo, from the Democratic Left, a party to which Jiménez belonged.
After evaluating the documentation presented by both, the CAL agreed that it will analyze the possibility of unifying both complaints and the process carried out will be forwarded to the Ethics Committee.
The second vice president of the Legislative body appeared by telematic means in the session of the Council, to which she belongs, and maintained that she did not incur in any violation of the Law.
The legislator is accused of processing public positions in exchange for money, a request from the alleged beneficiaries of public positions and on her work team.
According to the complaints, several people confirmed that they were asked to deposit funds in accounts of Jiménez’s relatives to obtain work placements.
In this regard, the parliamentarian of UNES Ronny Aleaga, member of the CAL, affirmed that the data presented by his bench have the favorable report of the Legislative Technical Unit; however, Jiménez illegally intends to file the case unfoundedly.
