Havana, Cuba: Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs in Spanish) are already a reality in Cuba, where little by little new economic actors are making their way, Radio Habana Cuba publishes.
The first approved group of 35 includes 32 private and three state-owned companies, highlighting the activities prioritized for the economic development of the country. Thirteen dedicates to food production, six to manufacturing, three are related to recycling activities and three are located in the Scientific and Technological Park of Havana.
The new companies are distributed in 11 of the 15 provinces of the country, according to information on the website of the Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP by its Spanish initials).
Ten of them have already carried out export operations and five belong to local development projects. The MEP adds that 20 of these businesses are a reconversion of self-employed workers to the new form of non-state management. The other 15 are newly created.
At the moment, the requests for the creation of MSMEs are in process and so far none have been rejected.
The new MSMEs can proceed to their constitution as legal persons to carry out their economic activities. These forms of management, together with the non-agricultural cooperatives, are part of the improvement of the economic actors that the country carries out in its efforts to create a prosperous and sustainable development.
