La Habana, Cuba: A variety of products and household supplies, from electronic and hardware parts, to mattresses, furniture and office supplies are currently sold in national currency, through the Copextel (TOC) online store, which it is hosted on the Cuban platform for electronic commerce, EnZona, the Granma newspaper publishes.
According to the vice president of Copextel, Yamilé Hernández Fernández, since April of this year, TOC opened its services to the population, and although initially it began to sell those idle and slow-moving items that were in the company’s warehouses such as cards, connectors and cables, other items have progressively been incorporated.
This largely responds to the management of each of the agencies, in the different territories, and the contracts they establish with the national industry, she added.
Through this network, 5.5 million pesos have been sold to date and we intend to incorporate in 2022 the online sales service in freely convertible currency, since several suppliers have expressed their interest in placing their products in our online store, highlighted the Vice President of Copextel
The profits that are registered in this way will allow us to expand the range of items that, in national currency, are sold to the population in TOC, she said.
Copextel is also immersed, together with the Ministry of Energy and Mines and the Electricity Union, in a program that promotes the use and development of renewable energies. Based on this, Jorge Febles, also vice president of Copextel, said, the commercialization of a group of products is planned, both for the business system and for individuals, to contribute to energy savings.
In this sense, she specified that 1 kilowatt photovoltaic systems should begin to be commercialized in November. «Now we are in the design of the tariff, of the sales concept, because we are talking about a system that generates energy and that you, as a natural person, can sell to the country and, in addition, provide yourself with it for consumption, according to with the approval of the Minem ».
Also, she added, by the beginning of next year it should start the sale of efficient LED luminaires, induction cookers, boiler rooms, solar heaters and photovoltaic systems, whose main destination would be the population in national currency. For example, about 3,000 solar heaters and 130,000 induction cookers must be incorporated, he explained.
