Havana: Cuba reported today 2,138 new people diagnosed with Covid-19, the lowest number in the last two months, Prensa Latina reports.

The national director of Epidemiology, Dr. Francisco Durán, reported 24 deaths due to complications associated with the pandemic, including a maternal death.

Durán specified that 32,360 diagnostic tests were studied the day before throughout the national territory to detect the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, a figure that rose to 10,111,292 since March 2020.

He added that 10,277 people remain admitted to health institutions with the active virus, of them 9,990 with stable clinical evolution, 203 in serious condition and 84 critical.

Regarding the diagnosis in people under 20 years of age, he reported 410 confirmed cases in the last 24 hours, 386 of them in pediatric ages, and reiterated the care in this population group to avoid contagion, mainly in newborns.

Three thousand 428 hospital discharges were granted, for a cumulative 912 thousand 470 (98 percent) recovered from the disease, not exempt from sequelae, the expert said.

The province of Sancti Spiritus (center) reported the highest number of positive cases with 338, followed by Pinar del Río (west), with 314; and in the east of the country Holguín confirmed 248, figures lower than previous days that show the control of the disease.
