Moscow: Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Riabkov declared that the United States continues to increase pressure on Latin American countries based on the Monroe Doctrine, local media highlighted today, Prensa Latina publishes.

At a meeting of the Interim Commission of the Federation Council (Senate) to protect state sovereignty and prevent interference in the internal affairs of Russia, held the day before, the official warned about the application of that policy by the White House.

“Guided by the imperialist Monroe Doctrine, politicians in Washington continue to increase pressure on Nicaragua, Venezuela and other Latin American countries by telling them how and by what standards to live,” Riabkov said, according to the TASS news agency.

Likewise, the Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs denounced the US government’s blockade policy towards Cuba, which he described as “illegal and archaic”, while underlining its rejection by the international community.

On June 23, 184 countries voted in favor of the draft resolution Necessity to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba, at the resumption of the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

For the twenty-ninth time, the majority of the world’s nations categorically demanded, in the main deliberative body of the United Nations, the lifting of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the island by Washington for 62 years.
