Mayabeque, Cuba: With the broadcast of an audiovisual in tribute to the recently deceased President of the Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC), Andy Duardo Martín, in Mayabeque, the provincial Assembly of the organization began in this province.
During the meeting, the journalist Elvis Gil Domínguez was elected by majority vote as the new president of the UPEC in the demarcation, who thanked the trust placed in him to represent the membership and who from that moment is a member of the UPEC National Committee.
The maximum leader of the union, Ricardo Ronquillo Bello, thanked Maikel Simón and the government of the demarcation for the work carried out in the last three months and highlighted the work of the Mayabeque press in the current political and economic context.
The occasion was propitious to recognize press bodies that celebrate closed anniversaries and to deliver the card that accredits them as members of the UPEC to Dariàn Bàrcenas, from Diario Mayabeque, Elsa Valdés and Sandra Cabrera, journalists from Güines TV and Nathalie Martínez Camps, of Radio Mayabeque.
