Mayabeque, Cuba: Workers in the Communications, Informatics and Electronics sectors of Mayabeque celebrated this Wednesday the eleventh anniversary of the Cuban Collaborative Encyclopedia EcuRed.
Due to the importance of this Cuban Collaborative Encyclopedia in the IT development of Cuban society, the Tenth Anniversary seal of ECURED was awarded to one of the founders, Omar Pérez Salomón, and to the university professors, Doctor of Science Elio Lázaro Amador Lorenzo and the Master of Science Mayra Arap Fresno.
They also recognized the workers of Joven Club and the Institute of Scientific and Technological Information who stand out as collaborators of this website.
A special tribute was received by the Fructuoso Rodríguez Pérez Agrarian University, located in Mayabeque, for its delivery and contribution in the Certification of scientific-technical articles that enhance knowledge.
Eleven years after its launch, the EcuRed Cuban Collaborative Encyclopedia is a very useful tool to enrich knowledge. It receives more than 250 thousand visits daily, a figure that positions it as the most demanded consultation website by Spanish-speakers.
Mayabeque is among the outstanding provinces in collaboration with EcuRed, therefore, the satisfaction of deserving the headquarters of the National Act for the eleventh anniversary of this encyclopedia.
As a culmination of the activity, the Minister of Communications and member of the Party’s Central Committee, Mayra Arevich Marín, urged the collaborators to enhance their investigative work in order to strengthen the digital transformation, so necessary for the computer development of the Cuban family
Also present at the meeting were the official of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Omar Pérez Salomón and the General Director of Joven Club, Pablo Julio Pla Feria.
Representatives of entities that worked during these years in the growth of the Encyclopedia also participated in the tribute.
