Mayabeque, Cuba: The use of agro-ecology, innovation and economic management stand out among the issues addressed by the producers of Mayabeque and the rest of western Cuba at the Regional Forum of Science and Technology of the National Association of Small Farmers.
At the meeting, producers from the credit and service cooperatives and agricultural production of Mayabeque, Artemisa, Havana and Pinar del Río presented 19 presentations to offer solutions to the daily problems faced in the task of producing food for the people.
Professionals from the sector evaluated the presentations and recognized the ingenuity and commitment of the farmers to their work with four mentions, three outstanding awards and an equal number of relevant awards for the best projects.
The ANAP Science and Technology specialist, Armando Hernández Romero, reaffirmed the need to be more efficient by disseminating the results of the research carried out throughout the country and presented to the Science and Technology Forum.
The application of new more efficient cultivation mechanisms, the repair and use of machinery in the absence of imported parts and the improvement of the management of economic processes in each cooperative is of great importance.
