Peru: A sector of the political opposition in Congress launched a plan to remove the president of Peru, Pedro Castillo, which should have started operating this Wednesday, February 16, before the president presented the new cabinet for approval, the fourth since he assumed power, Cubasí reports.
Faced with this new attempt, the designated premier, Aníbal Torres, 79, a native of Cajamarca, the region where Castillo is from, said that the right-wing plan will fail, because it will collide with a cabinet that knows how to defend democracy.
These actions are the product of a minority sector of Congress, said Torres, in a statement to the press.
After pointing out that he received the information that February 16 will be the day of the attack, he added that the cabinet of ministers that he has chaired since February 8 remains united with the leftist president. (YDG)
