Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin said today that ensuring defense capacity remains the most important task for the State, in a speech on the occasion of Defender of the Homeland Day, Prensa Latina publishes.
“The Armed Forces are a reliable guarantee of national security, the peaceful and quiet life of our citizens and the stable and progressive development of Russia”, the president said in a video message released by the Kremlin.
The head of state drew attention to how tense the international situation is, the dangers posed by existing challenges, such as the weakening of the arms control system or the military activity of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
He also reiterated that Russia’s calls for the establishment of an equal and indivisible security system, reliably protecting all countries, remain unanswered.
Putin reiterated that Moscow is always open to direct and honest dialogue and the search for diplomatic solutions to the most complex problems, but warned that its interests and the security of its citizens are unconditional.
He stressed that under such premises, the country’s leadership will continue to develop and improve the Army and Navy and will continue to strive to make them more efficient and equipped with the latest technology.
According to the president, much has been done in recent years to modernize the country’s Armed Forces. In this regard, he highlighted the achievements in mobility, the new combat experiences acquired, capabilities that were demonstrated in operations in Syria.
He also highlighted the increased training and cohesion of units and formations, which was evidenced in inspections, maneuvers, regular large-scale exercises, as well as in peacekeeping operations.
“We have put into combat service weapons that have no equivalent in the world. We will continue to develop advanced weapons systems, including hypersonic and those based on new physical principles, and expand the use of advanced digital technologies and elements of artificial intelligence”, he meant.
In Putin’s opinion, these weapons will increase the combat potential of the national Armed Forces.
Celebrated in Russia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Belarus and other republics of the former Soviet Union, this holiday commemorates the date of the year 1918 during the Russian Civil War, when the first mass recruitment of the Red Army took place in the cities of Petrograd and Moscow.
It was originally known as Red Army Day. In 1949, it was renamed Soviet Army and Navy Day and with the demise of the Soviet Union in 1991, the commemoration was given its current name.
