Tel Aviv: An operation by Israeli security forces in the city of Jenin, north of the occupied West Bank, left at least two Palestinians dead this Thursday, aged 17 and 23, and a third 30-year-old in the city of Bethlehem the Palestinian Ministry of Health, reported.
The Israeli army reported that its border police forces and troops entered a refugee camp in the city of Jenin to detain a terrorist suspect, an action that resulted in a confrontation.
“During the operation, the terrorists opened fire on our forces. Israeli troops returned fire which hit the gunmen. An Israeli soldier was slightly injured,” the army said in a statement.
The other young Palestinian murdered was called Nidal Jaafar and was killed in the south of the city of Bethlehem, in the West Bank.
In a separate incident, an Israeli bus passenger was traveling near a Jewish settlement in the West Bank and was shot to death by another passenger, according to the Israeli military. According to the national ambulance service, the stabbed man suffered moderate injuries.
Just two days ago a Palestinian gunman shot five people in the Tel Aviv suburb of Bnei Brak in the same region and was later killed by police.
The shooting was condemned by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, and 11 have already been counted dead by Arab attackers in Israel last week.
For his part, the Prime Minister of Israel, Naftalí Bennet, lamented the attack and announced a group of measures in the face of the new wave of attacks and said that there will be more police officers on the streets to reinforce security on the edge of the West Bank. (PVI)
