Havana, Cuba: Cuba and Mexico will hold their 17th Inter-Parliamentary Meeting on April 1 and 2 to strengthen bilateral cooperation projects, the island’s legislature announced Wednesday, Radio Habana Cuba reports.

According to the official source, both parties will address issues of mutual interest in economic relations, health collaboration, cooperation on topics of the multilateral agenda, and educational, cultural, and sports links.

The International Relations Commission of the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba reiterated that these meetings are a valuable instrument to raise initiatives among the participating countries, seek solutions to common problems and outline future strategies.

The Caribbean Legislative and the Congress of the Union of Mexico signed in June 1996 a protocol through which it was agreed to establish inter-parliamentary meetings between both nations.

“The meeting in Havana will reflect our peoples, governments, parliaments, and other important actors’ willingness to take advantage of the opportunities we have before us to deepen the bilateral relationship in various areas,” added the Commission.

According to the information, the official program of the meeting includes visits to scientific centers located in this capital, and at the end of the event, the delegations will issue a Final Declaration.
