Havana, Cuba: Cubans and friends of the Island, in Canada, prepared containers with medical supplies, food and hygiene materials to send them to this Caribbean nation.
According to diplomatic sources in Ottawa, the initiative was promoted by the Cuban Community Association in Canada, friends of the Quebec-Cuba Solidarity Roundtable and the Juan Gualberto Gómez Association of Cubans.
The donations, valued at one million Canadian dollars (800 thousand USD), will reach two hospitals in the western province of Artemisa and the Holguín health system, in eastern Cuba.
For several days, the solidarity network with the Antillean nation worked in the Canadian cities of Montreal and Toronto to organize the containers that will soon arrive at their destination.
Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, several shipments have arrived in Cuba from Canada to help Cubans amid the tightening of the United States blockade.
