Havana: At midnight yesterday, August 2, 508 patients are admitted to hospitals for epidemiological clinical surveillance and another 4,862 are being monitored in primary health care, Francisco Durán García, national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap) reported at a press conference, Cubadebate publishes.

For COVID-19, 3 thousand 485 samples were studied, resulting in 24 positive samples. The country accumulates 274 thousand 474 samples carried out and 2 thousand 670 positive (0.97%).

The 24 diagnosed cases are Cuban. Of those diagnosed, 16 (66.6%) were contact of confirmed cases, three (12.5%) with no determined source of infection and five (20.8%) with a source of infection abroad.

Of the 24 confirmed cases, 16 (66.6%) were women and eight (33.3%) men. The affected age groups were: 40 to 60 years old 13 (54.2%), 20 to 39 years old seven (29.1%), under 20 years old and over 60 years old with one (4.2%) respectively. 54.1% (13) of the positive cases were asymptomatic.

Residence of the 24 confirmed cases:

Pinar del Río: 1 case (San Luis municipality, traveler from Venezuela).

Artemis: 9 cases (San Antonio de los Baños 1, San Cristobal 1, Bauta 7).

Havana: 10 cases (Guanabacoa 1, Plaza de la Revolución 1, Cerro 1, 10 de Octubre 1, La Lisa 2, Arroyo Naranjo 2, Marianao 2).

Santiago de Cuba: 4 (San Luis 1, Santiago de Cuba 3, all of them are travelers from Venezuela).

Of the 2,670 patients diagnosed with the disease, 208 (7.8%) remain admitted, 207 99.5% present stable clinical evolution. 87 deaths are reported (none of the day), two evacuated and 2,373 recovered patients (89%) (four discharge of the day). A critically ill patient is reported.

As of August 2, 185 countries with cases of COVID-19 are reported, it amounts to 17 million 841 thousand 669 confirmed cases (+ 262 thousand 472) and 685 thousand 281 deaths (+ 5 thousand 776) for a lethality of 3.84 (-0.03).

The Americas region reports 9 million 651 thousand 472 confirmed cases (+ 150 thousand 067), 54.09 of the total cases reported in the world, with 363 thousand 599 deaths (+ 3 thousand 861) for a lethality of 3, 76 (-0.03).
