Mayabeque, Cuba: The delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) in the municipality of Jaruco, works on updating the studies of Danger, Vulnerability and Risks, whose results are extremely useful for the preparation of plans for disaster reduction, land use planning and the design of economic and social development policies.
According to information from the CITMA delegation in the territory, work is now being done to identify the consequences that floods may cause due to heavy rains, impacts due to strong winds, rural fires, landslides, droughts and earthquakes.
The measures adopted from the results of the Danger, Vulnerability and Risk studies will allow the territory and the country to face the onslaught of climate change.
The most recent evaluations made in Barcelona by specialists from CITMA and other environmental institutions, showed that in Cuba the average temperature could rise between 2 and 2.6 degrees in the next 75 years.
These studies are updated annually in a three-stage phase and are adapted to the reality of each territory.
