Cuba Confirms 35 New Positive Samples for Covid-19

Havana: At midnight yesterday, August 23, 1,171 patients were admitted to hospitals for clinical epidemiological surveillance, of them: 47 under surveillance, 579 suspected and 545 confirmed, the National Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health Public, Dr. Francisco Durán García reported at a press conference, Cubadebate publishes.

The expert pointed out that 4,261 samples were studied for COVID-19, resulting in 35 positive samples. The country accumulates 365 thousand 353 samples carried out and 3 thousand 717 positive (1.02%).

The 35 diagnosed cases are Cuban. Of these, 32 were contacts of confirmed cases, two without a specified source of infection and one with a source of infection abroad, one, 15 were male and 20 were female. 42.8% of the cases (15) were asymptomatic, accumulating 2,139, representing 57.5% of those confirmed to date.

Pinar del Río (2 cases)

Havana (32 cases)
? 10 from the Arroyo Naranjo, Boyeros and Cerro municipality with 4 cases each, La Lisa and Habana Vieja with 3 cases each, Habana del Este, Marianao and Diez de Octubre with 2 cases each, Plaza de La Revolución and San Miguel del Register with 1 case each.

Mayabeque (1 imported case)

Of the 3 thousand 717 patients diagnosed with the disease, 545 (14.7%) remain confirmed admitted, 524 96.1% with stable clinical evolution. 91 deaths are reported (none of the day), two evacuated, 35 discharges of the day, 3 thousand 079 recovered patients accumulate (82.8%). Two patients in critical condition and 19 in serious condition are reported.

Until August 23, 185 countries with COVID-19 cases are reported, the confirmed cases amount to 23 million 243 thousand 621 (+266 thousand 222) and 805 thousand 740 deaths (+5 thousand 419) for a fatality of 3.46 (-0.02).

In the region of the Americas, 12 million 465 thousand 424 confirmed cases (+139 thousand 329) are reported, 53.62% of the total cases reported in the world, with 442 thousand 941 deaths (+3 thousand 536) for a fatality of 3.55 (-0.01).
