International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.

Havana: Cuba is celebrating on Wednesday the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer by rewarding the work carried out by 12 institutions in the definitive removal of pollutants in the Earth’s stratosphere, Prensa Latina publishes.

The national recognition to those Cuban entities that managed to reduce use of ozone depleting substances was granted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA).

The list includes the E Central hotel, Real, Casa Bausá, Camino del Príncipe hotel, and Leyendas, located in the central province of Villa Clara.

Other facilities are the Cuba Libre Ranchón and the Jabalí Cave in the territory of Ciego de Ávila and Brisas Guardalavaca, Sol Río de Luna and Mares hotels, and the Empresa de Servicios del Niquel, in the eastern province of Holguín.

The award was also received by the tourist institutions Playa las Conchas II in the province of Matanzas and the Deportivo hotel in Santiago de Cuba.

On this International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, the Cuban Ozone Technical Office at the Center for Information Management and Energy Development attached to the Nuclear Energy and Advanced Technologies Agency at CITMA also celebrates its 25 years of its founding.

The Cuban Ozone Technical Office advises national companies to implement actions to eliminate harmful substances to the ozone layer.

With the slogan ‘Ozone For Life’, the world is commemorating today the 35th anniversary of the Vienna Convention, held in Austria, where 28 countries decided to establish a cooperation mechanism in order to take measures to protect the ozone layer.
