The digital version of the Granma newspaper reports that the President of Cuba begins his speech to the Cuban people by analyzing the epidemiological situation of the nation.
As part of the analysis, he compares the national situation during the first phase of the disease, when a peak was reached during which between 2000 and 3000 PCR were carried out daily, with the current regrowth situation that the Island is experiencing. «The regrowth has never reached the peak, although it has taken longer in time “, the president explained.
He also adds that the knowledge we achieved during the first moment of the spread of the disease, demonstrated its effectiveness when we applied it in the improvement of the work protocols against COVID-19. The application of this improvement showed that, although there were more cases during the regrowth, they recovered faster. This led to a flattening, which has also been influenced by the fact that at this stage we do three to four times more PCR than in the previous stage. HEALTH SYSTEMS HAVE NEVER COLLAPSED IN CUBA
The president adds other elements in his speech that have distinguished the behavior of the pandemic in Cuba.
-The Cuban health systems have never collapsed.
– There is a robust behavior of the developed medical protocols.
– More than 700 investigations have been carried out, with the development of more than 16 clinical trials.
– There are more than 70 medical brigades carrying out missions in other parts of the world.
STRATEGY TO LIVE WITH COVID-19 FOR A LONG TIME
Taking into account the strength of our health system and knowledge, a strategy has been prepared that goes beyond quarantines and that implies an evaluation system to learn to live with the disease, for a long time, with the least risk.
From now on, taking into account the cases and their contacts, we evaluate new strategies for the surveillance systems.
New actions will also be applied for government visits to the province, which will only be carried out with PCR done and with distancing. As for the meetings with the population, they should be carried out only in open spaces.
According to the President, masks and frequent hand washing are measures that are here to stay. “Don’t expect someone to say you have to wear them permanently,” he said. You have to work with the mentality of maintaining the greatest possible social distancing, using different ways, such as teleworking, but taking care of each other.
