Mayabeque, Cuba: Quivicán’s Maternal and Child Care Program (PAMI) shows good results. With 278 births so far and a rate of 3.9, the services focus on caring for pregnant women.
According to the deputy director of public health in that municipality, Danay Delanti, they evaluated all pregnant women who must give birth in December and identified those with obstetric risk.
Regarding the infertility consultation Delanti commented that they have already achieved eight pregnancies and have 400 cases under study. At this time, they are conducting an investigation in the health areas to detect couples, study them for their care in said service and increase the birth rate.
The PAMI enhances not only the care of the mother and the baby but also helps couples to have a healthy nine months of pregnancy and with an optimal quality of life to receive the new member of the family.
