Havana, Cuba: The Government of Cuba decided to reverse the phases of the recovery stage in several provinces and municipalities as a measure to control the Covid-19 pandemic in the country, Prensa Latina publishes.

The temporary group for confronting the health crisis, in a meeting headed by President Miguel Díaz-Canel, determined the passage of the province of Villa Clara from phase I to the epidemic stage of limited autochthonous transmission.

The provinces of Cienfuegos and Ciego de Ávila also vary, both from III to I, local television reported.

In general, there would be four provinces and the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud in the stage of new normality; in phase III, two; in I, 4; and in the epidemic stage, 5, Deputy Prime Minister Roberto Morales said.

As part of the meeting held in the capital by videoconference, the authorities of several territories explained the situation and the main measures in those towns.

Similarly, those present recognized deficiencies in the epidemiological investigation, the timely detection of suspects and contacts, as well as delays in the admission of confirmed persons.

For the recovery from Covid-19, the island’s plan includes phases I, II, III (each with its restrictions) and the stage of new normality.

The passage from one to the other is determined by the incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days and compliance with the percentage of PCR tests performed as an indicator of the active case search process.

Cuba is experiencing its third outbreak of Covid-19, with a total of 4,417 active patients with the disease, and accumulates 19,122 people diagnosed since the start of the pandemic in the national territory in March 2020.

Of the total of confirmed cases today (349), 170 belong to Havana, a territory with the virus spread in its 15 municipalities.

Faced with this reality, the largest of the Antilles perfects action protocols, reinforces hospital capacities and considers active research and the search for all the contacts of confirmed people.
