Mayabeque, Cuba: Two months into the 2020-2021 harvest in Madruga, the sugar production plan of the municipality’s industry shows non-compliance.

Objective difficulties in the daily work of the sugar producers of the municipality, prevent a better development and favorable results in this campaign, characterized by lower volumes of cane and constant stops due to the lack of raw material.

In 60 days of work, the Base Business Unit (UEB) Boris Luis Santa Coloma, of that municipality, produced about 7,500 tons of sugar, a figure lower than that agreed to date, while the potential ground is at 68 percent, another of the unfavorable indicators that affects the production plan.

Other objective factors that threaten the sugar contest are the transportation of the cane due to a lack of tires and delays in the mechanized and manual cutting plans, as well as the poor quality of the raw material that reaches the tipper.

Despite this, the commitment of the agro-industrial group of the municipality is imposed, which in 129 days of conflict must reach the expected 25 thousand tons of sugar.
