Mayabeque, Cuba: The workers of the Batabanó Industrial Fishing Company exceeded their ability to catch lobster at the close of the Lady of Glass season.
So far this year, the 31 vessels dedicated to this work contributed more than 45 tons to the industry, a plan scheduled from January 1 to February 15.
In this way they announce the closure of the species for the next day 16 of such an important economic line of the entity with favorable indicators for export.
The group made an effort each day in the different fishing areas to deliver the planned tons.
From then on, the fishing gear and the boats used in these tasks will be subjected to a maintenance and repair process for three months.
The lobster caught in the waters of the Gulf of Batabanó is marketed to several countries for its quality and high demand.
Respecting the reproduction stage of the species is of vital importance to obtain better results in the next season. (YDG)
