Mayabeque, Cuba: In Madruga, the daily adoption of measures that are designed in correspondence with the existing situation in the municipality marks a new challenge for the Municipal Administration Council (CAM) and its structures in this year marked by the impact of the Covid -19.

Attention to vulnerable segments is a main concern among priorities, the Mayor, Betina Broche González, highlighted.

?The electronic payrolls are already printed and each retiree from our settlements will be taken the payment to their home to avoid moving. The state markets maintain the distribution, the prioritized sectors have a different perspective regarding insurance, in the Nursing Home insurance is maintained with everything necessary to guarantee the health of the grandparents?, Broche González explained.

Taking into consideration the moment the territory is living, the food distribution network was redesigned to reach the 32 rural settlements that the municipality has twice a week. In the same way, it is the way that is adopted with everything that is produced from the Base Business Unit (UEB), from the local food service.

By agreement of the Municipal Defense Council (CDM) and fully available to the workers who today are not essential in certain work centers, messaging is reinforced to bring the food system to people who are isolated in their homes and to those vulnerable due to pathologies chronic or imminent risks of contracting the disease.

“The evaluation of the investigations and of the prevention and health promotion actions in the community is also a permanent task of the local authorities but all this government effort is not enough if there is no greater support and understanding of the population”, the municipal mayor of Madruga emphasized.

Reiterating the call to discipline, no matter how insistent we are, will always be more valid than regretting later because we did not do all we could do.
