Havana: The national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba, Dr. Francisco Durán, reported this Tuesday two deaths and 1,141 positive samples for Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, for an accumulated of 57 thousand 607 diagnoses since the beginning of the disease in the nation, Radio Habana Cuba publishes.
The specialist reported, after clarifying that this is the second day with the highest number of infections, that at midnight yesterday 23 thousand 436 patients were admitted, of them 3 thousand 825 suspects, 15 thousand 005 in epidemiological surveillance and 4 1,606 confirmed.
Durán explained that the country carried out 18,087 samples the day before for a cumulative of 2,558,109 samples analyzed.
The epidemiologist announced that, of the 1,041 patients, 566 were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis, 992 have a source of infection in previously confirmed cases, 11 have a source of infection abroad (3 foreigners) and in 38 people the source of contagion is unknown. Autochthonous, 1,030 patients were reported.
Of the total confirmed, 531 are male and 510 female. Regarding the age groups, 177 patients under 19 years of age were diagnosed and in pediatric ages, 700 remain active hospitalized. In the ages of 19 to 39 years 338 cases were confirmed, between 40 and 59 years about 335 cases and 191 people older than 60 years.

Durán García specified that, of the 57 thousand 607 patients diagnosed with the disease since the beginning of it, 4 thousand 606 remain admitted, of them 4 thousand 538 with stable clinical evolution. 352 deaths are reported (2 in the last day) for a fatality of 0.61. The two evacuees remain, 54 returnees and 52 thousand 593 recovered patients accumulate (884 discharges of the day). 27 patients in critical condition and 41 patients in serious condition are reported.
Until March 5, 190 countries with cases of COVID-19 are reported, there are 117 million 607 thousand 849 infections and 2 million 608 thousand 386 deaths for a lethality of 2.21.
In the region of the Americas, 52 million 705 thousand 723 confirmed cases and 1 million 259 thousand 023 deaths are reported for a fatality of 2.38.
