May Day: United We Make Cuba.

Cuba: The Federation of Cuban Workers (CTC by its Spanish initials) and its national unions announced, from the agricultural areas of Melena del Sur, in the province of Mayabeque, after a productive day, the call for the celebration of the May Day, preceded this time by the Eighth Congress of the Party, Granma newspaper reports.

The member of the Political Bureau, Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, secretary general of the CTC, specified that the agreements of the partisan appointment will constitute the compass that will guide the action of the workers in the effort to continue forward in the implementation of the profound changes that we have proposed, as part of the updating of the economic and social model of socialist development.

Before the Mayabeque delegates to the Party Congress and the main authorities of that territory, he explained that the commemoration will take place virtually, under the motto United: We Make Cuba.

Its main protagonists, he asserted, will be the workers’ collectives and the communities, with the deployment of popular initiatives that will reflect the joy, responsibility and commitment of the union movement in the decisive battle to advance our economy and achieve the efficiency that it demands, directing priority to increasing food production.

The workers are aware, underlines the call, that we face a complex and challenging scenario characterized by the criminal, unjustified and inhumane economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States Government, intensified with the implementation of more than 240 measures, to which adds the effects of a pandemic.

To overcome these obstacles, he pointed out, we are encouraged by the deep conviction that only those who fight, resist and do not give up have the right to succeed.

This May Day will also be the stage to ratify the testimony of gratitude to the Health and Science workers, and to those who have kept working. Cubans will also show their solidarity with workers and trade union organizations that are victims of neoliberal policies in the world.

“United We Make Cuba” is the motto that will preside over the day to celebrate May Day in our country. This was announced by the Member of the Political Bureau and Secretary General of the Central of Cuban Workers, Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, after concluding a productive day in the south of the Mayabeque province.
