The internet platforms spread like wildfire the sticky and obviously subversive theme, Homeland and Life (Patria y Vida), with which some of the most relevant Cuban musicians of the moment, Yotuel, Gente de Zona and Descemer Bueno, have joined to try to change history.
Pretending to be original, they are repeating as their own, in the song, a chorus that is a phrase nothing new for Cubans, it belongs to us in the same way as Homeland or Death.
It was on December 23, 1999, when Fidel, reflecting with a group of pioneers, said: ?Today I am going to use a phrase, not a definitive one, because we must not renounce to the idea of ??Homeland or Death, nor the idea of ??Socialism or Death, and I am going to say as a young deputy in the National Assembly said: Homeland and Life! Life for you is what we want! ?.
What an unhealthy way to misrepresent the significance of our HOMELAND OR DEATH, an expression of our absolute resolution not to give in to those who want us to betray our land and to be disloyal to those who bequeathed us the Homeland that we enjoy today!
Anyone who knows us knows very well that our HOMELAND OR DEATH, reaffirms the same idea of ??that HOMELAND AND LIFE of a young Cuban revolutionary, a phrase paraphrased by Fidel and that is a constant in the history of the Cuban Revolution.
These concepts of our leader have accompanied us since January 1, 1959, when the fundamental transformations to defend it begin, with the construction of a sovereign State, of the humble, by the humble and for the humble, always in favor of life.
Precisely to defend it, Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, frees his slaves on October 10, 1868, since then many heroes fought for the absolute sovereignty of the Homeland, until January 1, 1959, with the Triumph of the Revolution, begins a gigantic process in favor of the true existence for all the people.
Cubans inside and outside Cuba, in addition to ideologies and definitions, do not join the hate campaigns that hide behind songs like this, but rather take on the ideas of the apostle.

We here, who define ourselves as revolutionaries and want the future of our children to be one of dignity and decorum, do not renounce to our HOMELAND OR DEATH and say like the bronze titan: ?Whoever tries to take over Cuba, will only collect its soil drowned in blood if he does not perish in the struggle?. And so says our anthem: ?To die for the Homeland is to live!?.
