Havana, Cuba: Deputies of the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba (ANPP) will participate today in the Seventh World Conference of Young Parliamentarians that will have Covid-19 as its central theme, Prensa Latina publishes.

Convened by the Inter-Parliamentary Union in virtual format, the international event will run until April 29 with several panels under the slogan ‘Post Covid-19 recovery: an approach adapted to the needs of young people’.

Through his Twitter account, the Ambassador Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations Office and international organizations based in Switzerland, Juan Antonio Quintanilla, advanced some of the topics that the Caribbean delegation will address.

‘They will present the experiences of Cuba and the protagonism of its youth in the Covid-19 confrontation’ and will debate on higher education, health, representation, among other issues.

According to this year’s convocation, the IPU World Conference of Young Parliamentarians is a unique platform that ‘enables them to meet, exchange views, learn and define common and innovative strategies to promote youth empowerment’.

According to the official site of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the 2021 Conference will focus on preserving and respecting the fundamental rights of young people.

In addition, the event seeks to explore the best means to promote youth participation in recovery, provide guidance on how to strengthen education systems, maximize employment, and adjust health services.
