Mayabeque, Cuba: The III Workshop on Management for Local Development lifted its curtain on April 27 with the official appointment of Francisco Rey Alfonso as a historian of Jaruco.

The writer and researcher, recognized for his contributions to dance historiography, spoke about the Jaruco River and its economic importance in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.

The Head of the Local Development Section, Lic. Michel Núñez Rabre, expressed the Government’s willingness to manage the publication of an unpublished book on the history of Jaruco, authored by Rey Alfonso.

He also announced the aspiration to create a special group for collaboration and management of the historical memory and heritage of the territory.

The first day of the workshop continued with a presentation by the Director of Informatization and Communication of the Agrarian University of Havana (UNAH) Fructuoso Rodríguez, Neili Machado García, who gave a presentation on the innovation laboratories that are promoted in five provinces of the country.

The also member of the Cuban Computer Union, expressed the idea of ??materializing this type of technological institution in Jaruco.

At the end of the day, an evaluation of Jaruco’s Local Development strategy, redesigned in the last year, was presented.

The Head of the Local Development Section, Lic. Michel Núñez Rabre, stressed the importance of the participation of the greatest number of actors in the municipality, to advance in the achievement of self-sufficiency and progress in all areas of society.
